The Electoral Commissioner of Queensland
Pat Vidgen PSM
Pat Vidgen PSM was appointed Electoral Commissioner of Queensland (ECQ) on 7 September 2018.
Pat has held a number of senior executive positions during a career in the Queensland Public Sector which spans more than 28 years. Prior to his appointment with the ECQ, Pat played a crucial role in the successful delivery of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, having worked as the General Manager of Strategic Engagement. He has extensive experience representing Queensland on Commonwealth and State Government boards and committees, including the national counterterrorism committee. Pat has successfully managed a diverse range of projects including major events such as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) and disaster recovery efforts in the wake of Cyclone Larry and the Queensland Floods.
In announcing his appointment as Electoral Commissioner, Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath told State Parliament Pat was “well known as a person of integrity”. The Attorney said Pat’s leadership and experience could provide Queenslanders with the confidence that the Electoral Commission is delivering its important work.
